Malin Byström receives the Svenska Dagbladet Opera Prize

Malin Byström has been awarded the 2010 Svenska Dagbladet Opera Prize. Being one of the most prestigeous Swedish awards in the area of classical music, the award has earlier been given to international opera stars such as Gösta Winbergh, Katarina Dalayman, Peter Mattei and Nina Stemme.

During the 2009/2010 season Malin Byström had a major success in the title role of Massenet's Thaïs at the Göteborg Opera. She has also sung Romilda in Serse and Fiordiligi in Così fan tutte with the Royal Swedish Opera, Marguerite in Faust in Gothenburg and appeared at a number of European operatic stages. The upcoming season includes the role of Mathilde in Guillaume Tell in concert performances in Rome and London under the baton of Antonio Pappano as well as Elena in Les Vêspres Siciliennes in Geneva. Future engagements will bring her to the Royal Opera House Covent Garden in London, the Metropolitan Opera in New York and the Salzburg Festival.
