Revival of Die Walküre at the Royal Swedish Opera with Joachim Bäckström as Siegmund.
The Royal Swedish Opera presents a revival of Die Walküre, staged by Staffan Valdemar Holm with the Royal Swedish Orchestra led by the Opera’s new music director, Alan Gilbert.
Joachim Bäckström, who sang the part of Siegmund in one performance and one streamed concert version in March 2020, before the opera house closed due to the pandemic, is now back in the role.
The opening night is on November 20, with further performances on November 27 and 30, December 4 and on January 6 and 15, 2022.
Joachim Bäckström has this autumn been a guest at the National Theatre in Brno, in the Czech Rebublic, where he's portrayed the title role in Britten's Peter Grimes, staged by David Radok.
