Katarina Leoson in the world premiere of Drifted in Stockholm

World premiere of the opera Drifted by Rehnqvist at the Royal Swedish Opera!

The Royal Swedish Opera presents the new opera Drifted / Strandad by Karin Rehnqvist with libretto by Kerstin Perski, an opera commissioned by the Royal Swedish Opera.

Katarina Leoson sings the role of Mrs Lind in this new opera, where opera arias meet folk music. The opera is staged by Swedish director Natalie Ringler with the Royal Swedish Orchestra and Opera Chorus led by Norwegian conductor Cathrine Winnes.

The premiere takes place on November 19, with further performances until December 27.

"Karin Rehnqvist is one of Sweden’s foremost composers. Partly inspired by the immense collective tragedy that followed the 2004 tsunami, which she personally witnessed in Thailand, she and the librettist Kerstin Perski have written a compassionate opera about strong human emotions such as grief, loss, survival guilt and the search for equilibrium in a world that has been turned upside down."
