Futari-Shizuka was commissioned and premiered by Ensemble Intercontemporain at Philharmonie de Paris in 2017, with soloist Kerstin Avemo, and has since then been performed at the Kölner Philharmonie and at the Kaufman Concert Hall in New York.

The concert at Suntory Hall, on Sunday August 22, will be the Japanese premiere of the opera.
