The Swedish tenor Wiktor Sundqvist has begun this season with the role of Ferrando in Così fan tutte at Uppsala Stadsteater, a co-production with Folkoperan in Stockholm that premiered this spring with Wiktor in the same role. Wiktor has also appeared in the world premiere of Sven-David Sandström’s last opera The Book of Life, as well as the family opera Hion om natten, both with the Norrköping Symphony Orchestra. The summer included the role of Atis in Joseph Kraus Proserpin at the Confidencen Opera & Music festival.
Wiktor Sundqvist has the previous season made his debut at the Royal Swedish Opera in Stockholm as Kaj in the contemporary opera Snödrottningen/The Snow Queen, composed by Benjamin Staern. Wiktor also appeared in the the role of The Son in the world premiere of the contemporary staged oratorio Ålevangeliet/The Gospel of the Eels at Folkoperan, a production he will return to later this winter.
In the season of 2019-2020 Wiktor Sundqvist sung Don Ottavio in Don Giovanni at NorrlandsOperan in northern Sweden. He also participated in the independent opera company Kamraterna’s production of Antonia Walpurgis’ Talestri, regina delle amazon where he appeared in the role of Orontes.
Previous engagemants include Kaj in Snödrottningen/The Snow Queen at the world premiere at Malmö Opera. At the Malmö Opera Wiktor has also appeared in the roles of Harlekin and Soldaten in the chamber opera Döden säger nej by Viktor Ullman and as Ahmed in A Thousand and one nights by David Fjellström. Wiktor Sundqvist has previously been engaged at the Göteborg Opera where he sung Janek in Janáček’s Věc Makropulos and at the Wermland Opera where he has sung Alfred in Die Fledermaus. He has appeared as Juan in Don Quijote at Folkoperan and Pang in Turandot at Folkoperan in Stockholm. He has sung Narciso in Rossini’s Il turco in Italia at the Läckö Slottsopera and he has participated in Piteå Kammaropera's contemporary Stilla min Eld.
In the summer of 2014 Wiktor appeared in Silverskeppet at the VadstenaAcademy in Sweden and the following season included engagements of Don Basilio and Don Curzio in Le nozze di Figaro at NorrlandsOperan. In 2015 he participated in the contemporary opera Son of Heaven by Japanese composer Moto Osada at the Vadstena Academy.
Wiktor graduated in 2015 from the University College of Opera in Stockholm. At the University College he has studied roles like Tamino in Die Zauberflöte, Pierre in Holst’s The Wandering Scholar, Franz in Les contes d’Hoffmann and Tanzmeister in Ariadne auf Naxos.
